Lions International District 3241 C & Lions Club of Chennai KVG Charitable Trust along with KauveryHospitals, Chennai are launching a Mobile Mammogram Screening Van Project on Sunday 21 June 2026 at 5.45 pm at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School, Harrington Road, Chetpet,Chennai. This health care project is the initiative of PMJF Lion S Bose, District Governor of Lions International 3241 C District.
This specially fitted screening van will cover all the towns and villages in Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur and Chengalpattu Districts and also every locality in Chennai City, especially where the under privileged women live. Early detection of Cancer is very important for the successful treatment of the breast and cervical cancer among women. By concentrating on Chennai and its immediate neighbouring District the project aims to reach every locality in the towns and interior parts of villages. The smaller bus design was selected especially to navigate the narrow streets and dense residential areas .
The medical screening tests which normally cost around Rs.4000 per person will be available to the people completely free of cost. This screening van will function throughout the year and thousands of women will therefore benefit from this scheme and many among them will be able to receive timely treatment.
The mobile platform will screen women to provide Advanced breast imaging and other latest medical screening procedures and those requiring further medical assistance will be referred for timely treatment . Kauvery Hospitals, Chennai has come forward to assist in this health care initiative through their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility ) Scheme.
The total cost of this project is Rs. 75 lakhs which is met through the liberal donations received from Lions Club Members of District 3241 C and various other donors.
