SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre Unveils ‘SRM Blood Connect’

Chennai, June 12, 2026: As part of the World Blood Donor Day 2026 celebrations themed “Normalizing Voluntary Blood Donation,” SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre launched SRM Blood Connect, a digital Blood Donation Camp Management System developed through a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Department of Computational Intelligence, School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, and the Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre.

The platform was designed to streamline and digitize the entire blood donation management process, including donor registration, eligibility screening, camp scheduling, donor communication, medical examination recording, and centralized record management. By integrating healthcare expertise with advanced computing technologies, SRM Blood Connect aims to enhance donor engagement, improve operational efficiency, and support the effective organization of blood donation camps.

Reflecting on SRM’s commitment to healthcare innovation, Dr. R. Jayanthi, Dean (Medical), SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, remarked, “SRM Blood Connect reflects the strength of interdisciplinary collaboration at SRM, bringing together healthcare and technology to create meaningful impact and advance innovation in patient care.” 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S. Kingsley, Professor and Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, said,”SRM Blood Connect will enhance donor engagement, improve coordination, and streamline blood donation camp management, strengthening our efforts to promote voluntary blood donation.” 

The initiative highlights the power of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing real-world healthcare challenges through technology-driven solutions. Developed under the academic guidance of Dr. M. Ferni Ukrit, Professor and Program Coordinator (AI), and Dr. R. Vinston Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of Computational Intelligence, Mr. Akash R, a B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) student. 

The platform is expected to enhance donor engagement, improve efficiency, strengthen data management, and streamline blood donation camps.

The launch of SRM Blood Connect reflects SRM’s commitment to advancing healthcare through technology-driven innovation for the benefit of both healthcare providers and the community.
