Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeons Association of Bharat is an organization which is one of the Spine Societies of India and the World with about 1200 members specializing in the field of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. The annual conference has been organised along with the Pacific and Asian Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeons (PASMISS) which is the major spine Society in Asia in Chennai from July 23rd to 26th at the Leela Palace Hotel Chennai.
Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras inaugurated the conference. Speaking at the event he said that future of healthcare lies in combining technology, engineering and medicine to build affordable, personalized and predictive healthcare solutions, particularly for India’s unique healthcare needs. Leading institutions such as IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur and IISC have launched interdisciplinary programs combining medicine with technology to develop innovative healthcare solutions. He also noted that biology and healthcare will become the biggest areas requiring advanced computing and engineering solutions.
The Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeons Association actively sets out guidelines in the treatment of Spinal problems and is also actively involved in the education and training of young doctors wishing to specialize in this complex field.
This meeting brings together about 800 spine surgeons from all over 16 countries and with over 100 Spine surgeons from abroad to deliberate on the recent advances in spine surgery.
The Society as part of educating young surgeons and in continuing the training and teaching for the senior surgeons conducts and Annual Meeting every year in different parts of the country. This serves the purpose of also bringing in to the country the recent advances happening in the rest of the world.
