The Broadcast Media Cinema Expo (BMCE) 2026 commenced today at the Chennai Trade Centre. South India’s premier trade exhibition and conference for the broadcast, cinema, OTT, content creation, production and post production industries is being held from July 17 to 19, 2026. Formerly known as Cinema Today, BMCE is being held alongside the 26th edition of Image Today Asia, one of India’s leading trade exhibitions for photography, videography and digital imaging.
The event was inaugurated by Shri P.C. Sreeram, ISC, Cinematographer, and attended by Guests of Honour Shri Manoj Paramahamsa, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Government M.G.R. Film & Television Institute; Shri R. Rathnavelu, ISC, Cinematographer; A. Karthik Raaja, President, Southern India Cinematographers Association (SICA); and actor Shri Ilavarasu.
South India is one of India’s leading media and entertainment hubs, home to three of the country’s four largest film industries, around 4,600 cinema screens and more than 180 television channels. BMCE aims to bring together broadcasters, filmmakers, production houses, technology providers and content creators while showcasing the latest broadcast, cinema, OTT and content creation technologies.
The three-day exhibition features more than 60 exhibitors and is expected to attract between 3,000 and 5,000 trade visitors. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the latest innovations in broadcast, cinema, OTT and media technologies through live demonstrations, conference sessions, exhibitor presentations and dedicated networking opportunities. Leading exhibitors include Benchmark Broadcast, Canon, Disk Archive, Evertz, Grass Valley, Horizon Broadcast, Monolith, Nanlite, RED Digital Cinema and several other leading technology companies serving the broadcast and cinema industry.
Over the next three days, the conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, technical sessions and fireside conversations on storytelling in a multi-platform world, election coverage, artificial intelligence in broadcast scalability, virtual production, VFX, CGI, the future of filmmaking, the rapid rise of micro dramas and the evolving content ecosystem.
BMCE will also feature exhibitor led technical sessions showcasing advancements in media storage, broadcast infrastructure, FM radio broadcasting and production technologies. The final day of the expo will feature the Cinema Today Short Film Contest, with screenings of selected films followed by an awards ceremony celebrating emerging filmmaking talent.
Running alongside BMCE, the 26th edition of Image Today Asia features more than 150 exhibitors representing leading photography, videography and imaging brands including Sony, Fujifilm, Nikon, Tamron, Sigma, Godox, SmallRig, Lexar and SanDisk. Visitors can also experience camera and lens service camps, workshops, live demonstrations, fashion shows and a special felicitation of more than 60 distinguished industry veterans by the Tamil Nadu Photo & Videographers Association.
