Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHM) Workshop was successfully conducted on Saturday, April 18, in Adyar Chennai.
The initiative, organized by Slum Soccer (Krida Vikas Santha), brought together 20 educators representing different schools from across the region. The program aimed to equip teachers with the necessary knowledge and pedagogical tools to support their students effectively regarding menstrual health.
Key Highlights of the Program:
- Expert Guidance: The workshop was led by Ms. Mahima Barse Project Manager from Slum Soccer, Nagpur. Her sessions focused on the physiological aspects of menstruation, hygienic practices, and debunking common myths.
- Collaborative Leadership: The event was coordinated locally by Mr. Noor Basha and Ms. Rizwana Farheen, ensuring the program addressed the specific cultural and social needs of the local community.
- Active Participation: Twenty teachers engaged in interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical demonstrations, sharing their experiences and challenges in managing menstrual health awareness within their respective schools.
The program concluded with high praise from the participants, who noted the clarity and importance of the information provided. By training these “master trainers,” the workshop is expected to have a ripple effect, positively impacting hundreds of young students by creating “period-friendly” school environments.
Ms. Mahima Barse emphasized the role of educators in this movement, stating, “Teachers are the bridge to a girl’s confidence. By normalizing conversations around MHM in schools, we ensure that no girl’s education is hindered by a natural biological process.”
The organizers expressed their gratitude to the participating schools and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such impactful community health initiatives in the future.
