Chennai, June 26, 2024: YRGCARE, a unit of YR Gaitonde Medical Educational Research Foundation (YRGMERF), is pleased to announce the Suniti Solomon Memorial Symposium. This symposium will honour the enduring legacy of the esteemed Padma Shri Dr Suniti Solomon, founder trustee of YRGMERF, and her monumental contributions to healthcare. The event will witness a significant gathering of distinguished guests, collaborators, community leaders, and healthcare professionals, coming together to celebrate her life and discuss the current advances in public health research.
The Suniti Solomon Memorial Symposium will feature special remarks by Dr Gregory Lucas, Professor at the School of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), and a presentation by Dr Amita Gupta, co-chair of the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute at JHU on the institute’s commitment to India. This will be followed by a panel discussion on the lessons from COVID-19 where experts from JHU and Abbott Laboratories, will cover crucial topics such as establishing clinical protocols, conducting research in a socially distanced world, and developing diagnostics relevant to future epidemics.
At the symposium, a short video will introduce the Suniti Solomon Centre, a facility that will be dedicated to Dr Suniti’s memory. The new centre epitomizes YRGCARE’s mission to providing equitable access to healthcare and driving clinical excellence. It includes specialty labs generously donated by the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute at JHU and Abbott Laboratories. These labs will conduct groundbreaking research on viral discoveries, evolution, drug resistance, emerging variants, and pathogenesis.
