Young hands come together to promote energy conservation at Power Grid’s painting competition

Chennai, November :

As part of National campaign on energy conservation, the Ministry of Power in co-operation with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and POWERGRID (A Maharatna PSU) organised a painting competition for school students.

The competition was conducted in two categories -. Cat-A (for 5th, 6th & 7th Students) and Cat-B (for 8th, 9th & 10th students) through schools which were registered in BEE-Online web portal and two best drawings in each category were uploaded by schools.

Theme for this year’s (2023) Painting competition was  ‘”Life- Lifestyle for Environment” or “We Are Pro Planet People”. 

The objective of conducting painting competitions for the school students of these Categories is that, once the students of this age Category participate, automatically the family members including their parents, brothers, sisters, friends and teachers, would also involve themselves for the better performance of the child, in addition to the creativity of the child.

In the first phase, out of the paintings submitted online throughout the state, the best 50 paintings in each Category have been selected by expert Jury members, comprising renowned persons in the fields of Arts, Drawings and officials from Education Department to participate in the State Level Painting Competition.

The participants were called for participating in the State Level Painting competition on Energy Conservation held at Vivekananda Auditorium, Anna University, Chennai.

There was an exemplary response from the participants and their parents/guardians. Dr.J. Radhakrishnan, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary & Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, presided over the valedictory function at Anna University in Chennai today and gave away the cash prize to the winners of the State Level Painting competition.

Prize money for both the Categories (A&B) is as follows: 1st Prize : Rs. 50,000/-,  2nd Prize : Rs. 30,000/-, 3rd Prize :Rs.20,000/-. There are 10 Appreciation Prizes of  Rs. 7,500/- each.
