Chess Prodigy Master Daakshin Arun, Std 8 of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus has clinched the Championship Trophy with a cash prize of Rs 80,000 at the MPL 35th National Under-13 Open Chess Championship-2022 for an outstanding score of 10 in 11 rounds Swiss format held at Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School , Pondicherry between 10th & 18th December, 2022.
His unbeatable performance ranked him in the First Position on the Leader Board thus being selected to represent India in the upcoming U-14 World Asian and West Asian Chess Championship.
Having started playing Chess from the age of 6, he triumphed in various tournaments at the National and International Forum in all formats and this helped him achieve this high rank.
This prestigious National Chess Championship was organized by Pondicherry State Chess Association under the aegis All India Chess Federation & FIDE, wherein 331 rated chess players were attracted to participate from
27 different States across India.
The School Management congratulates the National Champ for his outstanding feat and wishes him to set more records in future.
