Maya Universe presented a spectacular dance competition, ‘GOD – Greatest of Dance,’ which unfolded its grandeur on December 2 and 3, 2023, at the Anna Centenary Library Auditorium in Kotturpuram, Chennai. This nationwide initiative, conceived by the visionary Dr. Sharanya.T, a renowned gynecologist celebrated for intertwining medicine, artistry, and entrepreneurship, drew over 1000 participants from across India. The event was poised to set a new benchmark in the realm of dance competitions nationwide.
A distinguished panel of ten judges, revered across the nation, evaluated the participants, unveiling the results in an electrifying showcase. Adding to the fervor, these esteemed judges also graced the stage with their dance prowess, inspiring aspiring talents and entertaining the enthusiastic audience.
The grand finale, held on December 3rd afternoon, was inaugurated by the Honorable Forestry Minister Mr. M. Mathivendhan, alongside revered dance sensation Baba Bhaskar master, actress and professional dancer Sangeetha Krish, and the beloved comedian Pugazh, fondly known as Vijay TV’s Pugazh.
GOD encompassed a diverse range of categories, catering to various dance styles and age groups. From the intense Battle events under the banner of ‘Irudhi Suttru Extreme’ in collaboration with The Chennai Dance Palace, Perambur, led by Sudhan and Krish, to the captivating Dance categories featuring open style and hip hop for kids, adults, and All-Girls teams—the event exuded a vibrant celebration of dance.
This groundbreaking edition of GOD witnessed an unprecedented gathering of ten national judges, including luminaries such as Ruel, Pravin G, Sambo Mukherjee, Akanksha Sharma, and others, marking a historic moment in the Indian dance competition arena. Notably, the event also offered a remarkable prize pool of 10 lakhs in cash and merchandise, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country.
