Rs.1.13 crore seed funding granted to 10 SRMIST Start-ups

Kattankulathur:

As part of the Start-up India National Innovation Week initiated by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), The Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur celebrated ‘The National Start-upDay’. The event was inaugurated by SRMIST’s Vice Chancellor Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan. 10 start-ups from the Med-Tech, Food Tech, Deep Tech, D2C and Waste management sectors were granted seed funding of Rs.1.13 crore under the DPIIT, Startup India Seed fund Scheme (SISFS).

The event brought together start-up founders, aspiring entrepreneurs, industry experts, and students to recognise the innovations and entrepreneurial efforts on campus. The event aimed to encourage and showcase the entrepreneurial spirit among the student start-up community, providing them with valuable insights and opportunities.

The Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (DEI) has since 2015 worked to develop and foster the culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship within the campuses of SRMIST. The directorate supports and enables start-ups across the country by providing vital facilities and seed funds. Right from the inception of an idea into a market ready product, the DEI team enables teams/start-ups to achieve success in their start-up journey. DEI SRMIST also supports founders through the Start-up India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS).

The mentors offered vital direction, encouragement, and counsel to assist the SRM Start-ups in navigating the complexities and challenges they encountered. Furthermore, they exchanged perspectives on obtaining capital, growing their enterprises, and optimising their prospects for achievement. Through their interactions with the entrepreneurs driving these endeavours, start-up founders were able to acquire a greater grasp of the wide spectrum of ideas and solutions.
