Chennai, 1st September: P.S. Educational Society has kickstarted the grand celebration of its golden jubilee, marking 50 years of dedication to education and cultural enrichment. IIT Madras Director Dr. V. Kamakoti and former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission Dr. R. Chidambaram, both alumni of P.S. group schools, were the chief guest and guest of honourof the inaugural function, respectively, on August 31.
The valedictory function will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 4:30 PM, at the TAG – P.S.-DakshinamurthiAuditorium, 215, Ramakrishna Math Road, Mylapore, Chennai.
Speaking at the inauguration of the golden jubilee celebrations of P.S Educational Society, Dr. R. Chidambaram said “A school is not just for learning various subjects but is also a place where a person learns life lessons. these life lessons are those that build characters and also teaches students the importance of learning various ways to live life. “All the teachers we had were excellent from geography to mathematics and the headmaster were very strict,”
Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and an alumnus of P.S. Senior Secondary School V. Kamakoti said that every child in the school is looked after, like they are the teacher’s own. “The fundamentals and all the basics of life were taught to us only through these schools. The way we are trained in these schools is what we carry and it helps throughout life. The way to live with humility,” he said.
The President of P.S. Educational Society, K.V.S. Gopalakrishnan, expressed his reflections on this landmark occasion. He said, “Celebrating 50 years of the P.S. Educational Society is a testament to our commitment to educational excellence and cultural heritage. Our journey has been guided by the vision of our founder, Pennathur Subramaniam Iyer, to provide inclusive and quality education. We are grateful to our dedicated staff, students, and supporters who have been instrumental in our success.”
Gopalakrishnan added, “Our golden jubilee is not just a celebration of our past achievements but a reaffirmation of our pledge to continue nurturing young minds and preserving our cultural values. We look forward to many more years of contributing to the educational and cultural fabric of our society.”
Founded in September 1974 under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860, the P.S. Educational Society was established by PS Charities to consolidate its educational and cultural activities. It has since been a beacon of excellence, encompassing a range of schools and cultural institutions.
PS High School, established in 1905, was integrated into the Society in 1974. It has produced notable figures in various spheres of life. PS Senior Secondary School, founded in 1976, has been recognised as one of Chennai’s top 10 CBSE schools, renowned for its academic and extracurricular excellence.
Sanskrit Patasala, launched in 1977, has been instrumental in promoting Sanskrit education in collaboration with SamskritaBharathi. PS Matriculation Higher Secondary School, sarting1989, continues to deliver high academic results with 98-100% annual pass rates.
Other institutions from the PS stable include SRKM-PS Nursery Primary School, PS Institute of Music, Arts and Culture (PSIMAC), and PS Temple Green Vidyashram.
