Madipakkam Social Service Trust (MSS Trust), a reputed voluntary organisation in the city, is all set to host a Mega Marathon Event on August 25, 2024 (Sunday) at Puzhuthivakkam to promote environmental conservation. This event also celebrates the Trust’s 350th week of dedicated social service.
The marathon will feature 1 km, 3 km, and 5 km runs, welcoming participants of all ages, from children to senior citizens. The event will beflagged off at 5 AM from the premises of Vyasa Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, located behind Puzhuthivakkam Railway Station, and is expected to conclude at the same location around 8:30 am. Winners will receive prizes and certificates upon the event’s conclusion.
Notable film and television personalities, politicians, and business leaders are expected to participate in the runs. It is to be noted that the logo of the marathon was released recently by Shri. Ma. Subramanian, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu.
For the past eight years, MSS Trust has been organising weekly tree planting drives dedicatedly. With the support of over 60 volunteers, it has planted more than 7,600 trees around 5 water bodies and in over 50 housing colonies across Madipakkam, Puzhuthivakkam, Moovarasampettai, Velachery, and Sunnambu Kolathur. Besides these, in association with a few other like-minded organisations, it undertook desilting and clay removal at two major water bodies.
