This year marks the beginning of the 70th year of EEPC India. From $10 million worth of engineering goods exports in 1955, we have grown 10,932 times in these close to seven decades. Our exports touched $109.32 billion in 2023-2024. This remarkable growth is a combination of the forward-looking Foreign Trade Policy and the role played by the Department of Commerce, Government of India. Looking ahead, the Government has entrusted us with an ambitious target of $300 billion in engineering exports by 2030.

Advocating #SmartSustainableEngineering as the theme of the IESS-XII is in line with the Government of India commitment of reaching zero carbon emissions by 2030. EEPC India’s Green Drive is validated by a film launch on EEPC India’s Green Initiatives and distributing the maiden EEPC India Green Awards. The first Council to launch Green Awards to recognize the Green Engineering Manufacturing excellence, EEPC India today gave out awards to 9 Indian companies and certificates of appreciation to 7 companies.
Mr. Vimal Anand, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, speaking at the inauguration of IESS-XII, said that EEPC has been instrumental in carrying Indian engineering to every corner of the world. Being the face of Indian engineering exports for close to seven decades, it helps the nurturing of Indian engineering exports on its road to achieve over USD 100 billion from mere USD 10 million. He also said that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India has prepared a roadmap to take Indian exports to USD 2 trillion that has been incorporated in the new Foreign Trade Policy unveiled in 2023.
Tamil Nadu is the second largest contributor to India’s GDP, 3rd largest Exporting State, first in terms of number of Factories and industrial workers, the second-largest engineering exporter among Indian states and is the favourite choice for industrial shows of the stature of IESS. In April-September 2024-25, engineering exports from the State surged by an impressive 18% said Shri Atul Anand IAS, Principal Secretary, MSME Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
