GCP gave away prize money and certificates to the winning teams in the “Digital Deception Short film contest-2024”.

In view of the increasing recent Cyber Crimes, The CM of TN made an announcement on April 21, 2023, regarding the organization of Cyber Awareness programs and a Short Film Contest in Chennai City to raise public awareness of online cybercrime.

On 26.01.2024 Cyber Crime Cell, Central Crime Branch, Greater Chennai police announced the “DIGITAL DECEPTION SHORT FILM -2024” competition for promoting awareness against Cyber Crime sought to engage filmmakers in the crusade against digital threats on five latest Cyber Crime Modus Operandi.

Topics sought for Short film competition:

1. Fed-Ex Scam
   1. Online Part Time Job Scam
   1. Social Media Scam
   1. Investment Scam – Online Trading, Crypto Currency, Gold Trading, Matrimonial/Gift Scam
   1. Loan Application Scam

Last date of Short film video submission was on 05.02.2024. Total 75 short films videos were received from this contest, out of which 25 were shortlisted.

Cyber Crime Cell, Central Crime Branch, Greater Chennai police conducted DIGITAL DECEPTION SHORT FILM CONTEST-2024 with the help of Loyola College, Visual Communication, Digital Journalism, Institute of Vocational education departments staffs and Assistant Commissioner of Cyber Crime Cell, viewed the 25 videos and selected best two videos in each topic.

Cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- for first place and Rs.50,000/- for second place was announced for all the five topics. In total 10 best short films were selected in the DIGITAL DECEPTION SHORT FILM CONTEST-2024.

Today (14.03.2024) cash prize, Trophies and Certificates were distributed by Tr.Sandeep Rai Rathore IPS, the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai Police to the winners of the “DIGITAL DECEPTION SHORT FILM CONTEST-2024”.
