Chennai, India — On March 9, 2025, Mother India Crochet Queens (MICQ) set an extraordinary milestone by securing their 6th Guinness World Record for the Largest display of crochet squares. This record-breaking showcase, which featured 100,581 crochet squares, was unveiled at SRM University in Kattankulathur, Chennai, and covered an area the size of a football field.
The achievement was made possible by the collective efforts of over 250 participants, ranging in age from 6 to 90 years, from 10 countries, including students from five schools across India.
The crochet squares were arranged in a stunning formation titled “JAIHIND SALUTE TO INDIAN BRAVE BROTHERS – MOTHER INDIA CROCHET QUEEN’S 6TH ATTEMPT.” The display also
featured a map of India and two soldiers, also made with crochet squares, symbolizing the nation’s strength and valor.
Mother India Crochet Queen’s latest achievement is a testament to their unwavering commitment to spreading the art of crochet while bringing people together from around the world to celebrate Indian pride and craftsmanship. MICQ’s continued success in setting Guinness World Records highlights their commitment to preserving and promoting this traditional craft.

MICQ is planning to attempt a Double Dhamaka in 2026 for two Guinness World Records simultaneously as per the announcement by Ms. Subhashri, the founder trustee. The event was officially adjudicated by Ms. Hanane S. from Guinness Headquarters London.
