Chennai, 6 May 2024 : Dr Soosan Jacob, Director and Chief, Refractive and Cornea Foundation, and Senior Consultant, Cataract and Glaucoma Services at Dr. Agarwal’s Group of Eye Hospitals, Chennai, has earned the distinguished honor of being ranked 17th in The Ophthalmologist Power List 2024, the recent edition of the annual ranking of world’s top 100 inspirational and influential clinicians, scientists, and leaders in ophthalmology, for her innovative contributions to the field of ophthalmology.
The prestigious Power List is compiled annually by ‘The Ophthalmologist’, a premier international publication dedicated to the field of ophthalmology and selection is based on national and international recognition among peers. Dr Soosan had appeared in the 2021 and 2022 editions of the top 100 Power List.
Dr. Soosan Jacob has over 24 years of experience, specialisingin refractive surgery, cutting edge keratoconus management, advanced corneal transplantations, complex anterior segment reconstructions, glaucoma and complex cataracts. She is well known and respected for her multiple innovations in Ophthalmology in the fields of cornea, cataract, glaucoma and keratoconus.

Dr Soosan Jacob is also the recipient of several prestigious international awards, including International Society of Refractive Surgery’s Kritzinger Memorial Award; Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians’ Innovator’s Award, The Waring Medal, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery’s John Henahan Award for Young Ophthalmologist, and American Academy of Ophthalmology’s International Ophthalmologist Education Award, among others. She is listed in Stanford’s 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 lists of top 2 percentile scientists from around the world (published by Elsevier). She is a noted speaker and author – she has authored more than 120 peer reviewed publications, is the editor for 17 ophthalmology textbooks, is on the editorial board of prestigious international journals and on the executive committee of many international ophthalmological organizations. She conducts courses and delivers lectures in numerous national and international conferences and has been invited to teach her techniques at many international institutes such as Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, USA, Johns Hopkins University and Yale University, USA, Jules Gonin Eye Institute, Switzerland, etc.
