Chennai, October :
When a child is battling a chronic illness, their daily life is often filled with doctor’s appointments, treatments, and medications. This can make it difficult for them to enjoy the simple things in life, like playing with friends and family.
Golden Butterflies Children’s Palliative Care Foundation, a not-for-profit public charitable Trust committed to Paediatric palliative care hosted 2nd anniversary of ‘Adi Dhool’, a fun fete for children and their families featuring exquisitely curated stalls for games, books, food, art activities, entertainment, song, dance and much more. The event was held at Stella Maris College ground today morning.
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Prof. Rema Chandramohan, Director and Professor, Institute of Child Health & Hospital for Children, Dr. Kalpana Balakrishnan, Director, Professor, and Head, Department of Anaesthesia, Pain & Palliative Care, Cancer Institute, GB Patron – Mr. S. Santhanakrishnan, Managing Partner, PKF Sridhar & Santhanam LLP, Dr. Latha MS, GB Assistant Medical Director, and Professor, Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai.
Children from various hospitals across Chennai, accompanied by their caretakers and siblings, enjoyed a day of fun and excitement at the ‘Adi Dhool’ Fun Fete. Child patients received a Rs. 500 voucher to spend on games, food, accessories, and clothing, giving them a chance to experience all that the event had to offer. Many competitions were also held, with prizes awarded to the winners.
Stella Jacqueline Matthew, Founder and Managing Trustee of the foundation said, “Having witnessed the overwhelming success of the first ‘Adi Dhool’ Fun Fete last year, we were determined to make it an annual event. The joy and happiness that the event brought to children under palliative care and their families was truly heartwarming. This year’s 2nd anniversary celebration is even more special, with a wider variety of games, activities, and entertainment for children of all ages. We have also made a special effort to create opportunities for families to spend meaningful time together and bond with other families in the same situation.”
“We are deeply indebted to all of our donors, supporters, partnering NGOs, volunteers, GB Golden WINGS, and staff, the backbone of our organization, for making this event possible. Without their unwavering support, we would not be able to bring this much-needed joy and happiness to children with long term illness.” She added.
