Chennai-based MangoPoint acquires license to export  Europe and Other Countries 

Chennai, 23^rd May 2022 : The Chennai-headquartered MangoPoint, a company that focuses on preserving and promoting high-quality mangoes and mango-based products today announced the acquirement of rights to export mangoes to Europe and completing their first consignment in 2022 season to Germany successfully.

MangoPoint which provides a sustainable Integrated Value Chain for Mangoes with single-origin, carbide free, chemical-free high-quality fresh Mangoes is the first company in Tamil Nadu to acquire approved certifications to export fresh mangoes to Europe and other coutnries. The certifications were approved by the Department of Horticulture, which inspected the farms for the compliance with good agriculture practices in the orchard, and the National Plant Protection Organization- NPPO and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority- APEDA, which inspected the MangoPoint integrated packhouse facility to approve the preparing, assembling and packing procedures. NPPO and APEDA require packhouses to follow stringent guidelines to meet Standard procedures of quality check for export trade of goods to the international market.

The MangoPoint Integrated Packhouse consists of Hot water Treatment which treats mangoes in a water body of about 50 degrees for an hour to sterilize the fruit flies inside the mangoes which is a mandatory procedure to follow for goods to be exported to Europe. MangoPoint also sends mangoes to Bangalore where the mangoes are sent for the irradiation process which is mandatory for export to the United States. In this 2022 season, MangoPoint has tied up with Shastha Foods, CA USA to provide our Indian Diaspora with authentic mangoes from our country. Shastha Foods distributes products ranging from ready to use Rice/Lentil Batters and other regional speciality products from India across USA. Shastha has delivered over 100 million dosas in USA and has recently begun placing their dosa batter in 10 of 35 locations of the multibillion dollar global retail chain called Costco in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The process for exports of perishable goods such as fruits is an extremely scrutinizing process but it is worth it as people across different countries will now get enjoy tasty mangoes. This is a very big milestone for us as we are the only packhouse in Tamil Nadu to export mangoes to Europe and the United States, but this is just the beginning and bigger things will happen in the coming mango seasons.”

The first consignment of mangoes to Europe has left India reached Frankfurt this week and the first consignment to the United States of America has arrived and hit the stores in San Francisco Bay area.
