This August 22nd, the city of Madras (now known as Chennai) celebrates its 385 birthday. The Chef’s at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa, Mahabalipuram have prepared a special brunch event showcasing the rich and diverse culinary heritage of the region.
The Madras Day Brunch will take attendees on a flavorful exploration of traditional and fusion dishes that have put Madras on the map as a renowned gastronomic destination. Gopal Sethi, Executive Chef said, “As we commemorate over three and a half centuries since the founding of this wonderful city, it’s the perfect occasion to celebrate the vibrant food culture that has evolved and thrived here,”.
The Madras Day Brunch will highlight the unique blend of local Tamil Nadu flavors and the influence of diverse culinary traditions that have shaped the city’s iconic cuisine. Guests will indulge in a delectable spread of signature Madras dishes, from classic favorites like Payasam, Wada, Gunpowder Dosa and a few innovative fusion creations that put a modern spin on traditional recipes like the Milagu Prawn Paniyaram with YeraThovaiya, Madras cheesy fried Chicken, Marina malliMeen Varuval, Filter Coffee Tiramisu.
The event will also feature live cooking stations, allowing attendees to relish the beloved culinary delights served hot. Beyond the food, the Madras Day Brunch will offer a glimpse into the city’s rich history and cultural heritage through displays, presentations, and interactive activities.
