Chennai: It was a proud moment for Mother India’s Crochet Queens (MICQ) when it bagged the prestigious Guinness World Record Award for the fifth time today (on Feb 4) at a gala function in SRM University in Kattankulathur in Chennai. This was made possible with the support of Indian Skills Development Council (a government registered organisation) which created a platform for recognition of human craft skills involving the participation of multitalented female folks across various continents.
Milestone event: The milestone event would be published in 23 languages in more than 100 countries across the world. The motto is bettering the world and reaching out to people across the spectrum.
Theme: The Theme of this Event is Creating Awareness for Breast Cancer in the World. Achieving a Guinness World Record a dream for so many thirsty minds, Mother India’s Crochet Queens has proved undoubtedly that it is so simple with a Strong Force of likeminded people.
Credit to Chief Thought Mentor Dr JP Singh: The Guinness Record is backed by the group’s Chief Thought Mentor Dr. J.P. Singh Sahni. He says each year about 2.3 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common type of cancer in the world affecting all adults.
In 95% of the countries, breast cancer is the first or second leading causes of female cancer related death. It is reported that breast cancer survival rate is up to 50% only, in case of low and middle income countries.
Reducing breast cancer: However, survival can be achieved over 90% for those who receive the best care from initialstage itself. Indeed, the UN agencies global Breast Cancer Initiative seeks to reduce breast cancer mortality by 2.5% a year.
There is a need to create a future without cancer. The Time to Act is Now. Keeping in view the high incidence of breast cancer in India, MICQ Team along with ISD Council has decided to attempt for the 5th Guinness World Record.
Dedication: This Guinness World Record is to be dedicated to the effort of reducing breast cancer mortality in India in coming years by devoted to control the spread of this deadly disease.
The focus would be on creation of awareness of the cause leading to breast cancer and more importantly, on taking initiatives for timely diagnosis and immediate treatment usingmodern therapies.
