Guwahati, September 2025:
The Saurav Nagar Unnayan Samittee has successfully concluded a month-long celebration of Bhado Maah, dedicated to preserving and promoting the spirit of Ek Soron Bhagaboti dharma, a branch of Sanatan Dharma. The initiative, which began at the onset of the sacred month, featured daily sessions of naam-prasanga, kirtan, and devotional gatherings, creating an atmosphere of spirituality and community bonding across the neighborhood.
The committee brought together residents, spiritual leaders, and cultural enthusiasts to immerse themselves in traditional practices. Central to the observances were the recitations of naam (chanting of the divine name) and kirtan (devotional songs), echoing the legacy of Srimanta Sankardev, Sri Madhavdev and other Vaishnavite saints of Assam.
As part of the festivities, the Samittee organized a special program to recognize the contributions of several senior citizens from the locality. They were felicitated for their lifelong dedication to community service, cultural preservation, and spiritual guidance.
In addition, the Namasarjya and Biloniya, who led the devotional singing and chanting throughout the month, were also facilitated by the committee. Their tireless efforts to uphold and spread the Vaishnavite tradition of naam and kirtan were acknowledged as vital to sustaining Assam’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
Preserving Values and Traditions
Speaking on the occasion, Nikhil Dolakasharia, General Secretary of the Unnayan Samittee said, “Bhado Maah is considered a spiritually significant month, and our aim is to remind the community, especially the younger generation, of the values of faith, unity, and devotion embedded in Ek Soron Bhagabati Dharma.”
Alongside spiritual activities, the celebrations fostered social harmony, with community feasts (prasadalaya), cultural exchanges, and discourses on the teachings of Sanatan traditions. Local youths such as Abhijit Saikia, Anshuman Dutta, Pratul Bora, Rajib Barman also took an active role in organizing the events, ensuring that age-old practices were passed down with renewed vigor.
Culmination with General Body Meeting
The month-long festivities culminated on the last day of Bhado Maah, 17 September, with a General Body Meeting of the Saurav Nagar Unnayan Samittee presided in presence of President of Unnayan Samittee Sri Dinesh Chandra Das, the executive body and all the honourable members.
