Chennai: The 9th edition of FICCI’s Digital Disruption and Transformation Summit on the theme How Can AI Transform Tamil Nadu Industries and Drive Tamil Nadu to be a Trillion Dollar Economy by 2030 started on a promising note here on Friday with speakers across the spectrum voicing their opinion on the impact of AI’s disruptive technology to the growth and development of industries.
Setting the tone for the summit, Mr K P Karthikeyan, MD, ELCOT, Government of Tamil Nadu, said that AI’s disruptive technology brings everyone together and the benefits of it are reaching the industrial sectors widely and the government is really supportive in terms of helping the MSMEs and other sectors to reap success out of the use of new technology that is evolving continuously.
He also said the government is committed to shaping the future of India with the use of beneficial policies along with the states, all for the creation of jobs in the new fields.
The AI has also impacted the medical world by adding value in developing medicines for the cure of cancer and other diseases and the new technology is more focused on automation as it is considered to be a universal phenomenon, Mr Karthikeyan noted.
Mr GSK Velu, Chairman, FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council and CMD, Trivitron Healthcare, said the summit happens to be a powerful platform for the government, industry and knowledge leaders to work for the tech driven growth in areas related to manufacturing, education, healthcare ( personalised treatment), governance, mobility and other regions as AI has become the driving force for making success in all domains and more so in creating jobs appropriately.
He wanted the Tamil Nadu government to harness AI for technological-led growth in the state besides redefining the value chains in the areas of development.
Dr V Rajaram, Convenor, FICCI Tamil Nadu Technology Panel, said that the Tamil Nadu government is taking several initiatives in making use of emerging technologies, all for the economic development of the state.
However, he voiced his concern over talent shortage in the country and the language barriers happening everywhere.
Stating that data centre is a big opportunity, he wanted the Tamil Nadu government to make use of its policies for capturing digital interventions for secured financial transactions and accessibility.
He said innovation is needed in all spheres and the use of AI is for enhancing intelligence in industries mostly related to MSMEs, manufacturing and defence.
Mr K Ramakrishnan, Senior Managing Director, SPARK Capital Advisors, noted that at least Rs 12 lakh crore capital is needed for achieving one trillion dollar economy by 2030.
He called for nurturing innovation and research apart from reskilling of workforce and creation of more jobs. He made a pointed reference for MSMEs to opt for cluster development and colloborative businesses.
He further said that the areas like electronics with the potential of 41 percent exports, semiconductor components, EVs, aerospace and space tech can make use of AI for their growth.
Mr Bhupesh Nagarajan, Co-Chairman, FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council, thanked the Tamil Nadu government for its helpful attitude in creating the Centre of Excellence and providing other sops for the growth of industries in the state.
