In a commendable initiative to promote women entrepreneurs and preserve the cultural heritage of Chettinad, Karaikudi Nagarathar Sangam Chennai (KNSC) organised a vibrant exhibition titled “Karaikudi Sandhai” at YMCA, A/C Convention Centre, Royapettah, Chennai.
The event, which took place on December 15, 2024 showcased a stunning display of traditional jewelry and craftwork, including intricately designed kazhuthuru and Gowrisangam jewelry that epitomized the elegance and craftsmanship of the region.
The exhibition also featured a series of pencil sketches capturing the timeless elegance of Chettinad mansions, as well as an impressive display of vegan silk sarees, handmade crochet bags, traditional utensils, Chettinad baskets, and iconic Chettinad sarees.
The event highlighted the rich cultural tapestry of Chettinad while empowering women to achieve economic independence. Additionally, several stalls offered a delightful culinary experience, serving authentic Chettinad food on traditional banana leaves.
This initiative successfully promoted the products while ensuring that the legacy of Chettinad’s artistry and culinary excellence continues to thrive, empowering more women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
