Chennai, Mamallapuram, November 2024: Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram kicked off the holiday season with a memorable and eco-friendly Cake Mixing Ceremony, blending festive traditions with sustainability in a vibrant celebration. Guests, local dignitaries, media, and resort staff gathered to partake in this time-honoured activity of mixing ingredients for holiday cakes, while embracing green initiatives that reflected the resort’s commitment to preserving the environment.
This year’s cake mixing featured a creative twist with the use of barrels and crushers, making the process more interactive and lively. Guests enthusiastically added a fragrant mix of dried fruits, nuts, and spices to the barrels, all while enjoying festive music and delicious seasonal treats. The ceremony captured the joy of the holiday season, with guests dressed in bright holiday colours and sharing in the spirit of togetherness.
A standout feature of the celebration was the resort’s sustainable tree lighting ceremony, which offered a fresh take on the traditional Christmas tree. Instead of using typical decorations, the tree was crafted entirely from locally sourced coconut leaves (panaellai), with the base and adornments also made from the same eco-friendly material. This unique tree design underscored the resort’s commitment to reducing waste and promoting the use of natural, sustainable resources.
To add to the festive atmosphere, a group of children from the local community joined the event, singing carols and spreading holiday cheer. Their joyful performances added a special touch to the evening, embodying the warmth and spirit of the season.
Mr. Shabin Sarvotham, Senior General Manager of Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram, commented, “At Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay, we aim to combine the joy of tradition with our commitment to sustainability. This year’s Cake Mixing Ceremony is not only a celebration of the festive spirit, but also a step toward reducing our environmental impact. The use of coconut leaves for our tree, and the participation of local children in carol singing, highlights our ongoing efforts to embrace sustainability while fostering a sense of community.”
