Announcement of Chemical Engineering Alumni Convention

Annamalai University, one of the largest Universities in terms of disciplinary diversity and student enrolment, is also one of the oldest universities in South India. Sprawling over a vast and sylvan campus of 1000 acres, the University houses about 50 Departments of Study under Eight Faculties. Founded by the legendary philanthropist and farsighted visionary, Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar in 1929, Annamalai University has played a key role in social, cultural, and economic uplift of the people across the rungs of society for nearly a century. 

Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, with a distinguished history spanning 75 years, is set to host a landmark Alumni Convention. This convention marks a significant milestone for the department which has carved a niche among the other technical institutions due to its unparalleled delivery of academic excellence and service to society. The department is second of its kind in the whole of Tamil Nadu to offer Chemical Engineering Programme at the Undergraduate level. 

The growth witnessed by the department in the last 75 years is stunning with a number of Post Graduate, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral programmes being offered which enabled the department to attract funding from many funding agencies to carry out projects. The Department had a good fortune of having headed by stalwarts in the domain of Chemical Engineering and had illustrious teachers who produced 3000 successful graduates who had and are occupying coveted positions in their chosen field and their contribution to chemical and other industry is humongous. 

The Department also boasts unstinted support from its alumni who are resolute in giving back to the alma-mater to make it a better place by supporting the department and the students in all possible ways. 

The alumni convention will mark the celebration of the platinum jubilee which is planned on Aug 10, 2024 at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Annamalai University. Eminent Alumni from across the world are expected to participate and will be discussing the development of Chemical engineering and its contribution to the world economy. Already 200 alumni have registered and it is expected to touch 500.
