A three day international conference on medical education SRIMEDCON 2026 was recently held at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. Dr. Lalitbhushan S. Waghmare, Vice Chancellor, Datta Maghe Institute of Higher Education and Research, Maharashtra inaugurated the conference.
Medical educators from all over the world discussed innovative approaches to promote excellence in medical education. Around 500 delegates including medical educators, clinicians, researchers, faculty members and postgraduate students shared their best practices to promote collaborations collectively shape the future of medical education with innovation and leadership.
The conference showcased 108 scientific presentations in oral and poster categories, reflecting the growing scholarship and innovation in medical education.
The panel discussion on Simulation-Based Education: What to Teach, How to Assess, How to Sustain explored strategies for competency-based training and assessment. The debate on ‘AI in Medical Education: Assistive Ally or Academic Adversary?” stimulated thought-provoking discussions on the opportunities and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence into medical education. The session on Mentoring for Professional Identity Formation (PIF) underscored that becoming a doctor extends beyond acquiring knowledge and skills.
The scientific programme featured plenary sessions by eminent experts Academic Mentoring and Feedback in CBME, Simulation-Based Education, Artificial Intelligence in research and Medical Education, Self-Directed Learning, and Gamification, providing participants with practical skills for implementing Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME).
