The “PARAMPARIYAM” Handlooms & Handicrafts Exhibition concluded successfully at C.P Art Centre, Alwarpet, Chennai, after four vibrant days celebrating India’s rich heritage of handlooms and handicrafts. Held from February 12 to February 15, the exhibition brought together artisans, designers, and craft enthusiasts, creating a dynamic platform to promote traditional craftsmanship and cultural preservation.

Organised with the support of relevant departments and coordinated in association with M/s. Aurv Organics Private Limited, the exhibition showcased a wide range of authentic handloom textiles, handcrafted products, and traditional art forms from various regions. The event attracted an enthusiastic response from visitors across the city, including families, collectors, and industry professionals.

Speaking after the event, the organisers said,
“The vision behind ‘PARAMPARIYAM’ was to create a meaningful platform where artisans could present their work directly to the public while preserving and celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage. The overwhelming response from visitors reflects the growing appreciation for handmade and sustainable crafts.”

The exhibition featured curated stalls, live artisan demonstrations, and thoughtfully designed spaces that enhanced visitor engagement and provided artisans with valuable exposure. With its blend of tradition, creativity, and community participation, “PARAMPARIYAM” reaffirmed the importance of supporting indigenous crafts while creating a contemporary cultural experience.

Organised by Aurv Organics Private Limited in association with Women Self Help Groups, the four-day exhibition aims not only to promote handcrafted and handloom products but also to create awareness about age-old Indian traditions among young adults and children.

A key highlight of this year’s exhibition is the presence of live interactive craft stalls, where visitors can witness artisans at work and participate in hands-on experiences. Traditional crafts such as:
•Pottery making
•Paper Mache doll making
will be demonstrated live, offering visitors — especially children and young adults — a rare opportunity to engage directly with skilled artisans and understand the intricate process behind these timeless art forms.

Unlike conventional exhibitions, PARAMPARIYAM is designed as an experiential cultural platform, allowing visitors to not only purchase handcrafted treasures and exquisite handloom sarees but also experience the craftsmanship first-hand.

By creating this interactive space, the organisers aim to bridge the gap between generations and ensure that India’s traditional crafts continue to inspire and thrive among the youth.
