33rd Graduation Daywith the CM of TN as the Chief Guest, delivering the Graduation Day Address

Chennai, October 2025: Founded in 1984 by a group of visionary leaders, including Bharat Ratna Shri C.Subramaniam, Prof. P. S. Mani Sundaram,and Padma Bhushan Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) was established as a management school closely connected to an industrial complex. They believed that, just as a medical school must be attached to ahospital to be effective as a teachinginstitution, a management school also needed to be linked to industry. As a result, the institute was founded inpartnership with BHEL on its large campusin Tiruchirappalli.

More than four decades later, BIM remains one of India’s leading business schools dedicated to advancing emerging technologies, integrating sustainability intoall aspects of growth, and making ameaningful impact on society and governance.

As BIM Tiruchirappalli approaches its next 40 years of academic growth, aligned withthe evolving global business landscape, the institution is making significant investments to establish several Centers of Excellence, some of which are inaugural in Tamil Nadu. These centers emphasize advanced technology, innovation, and partnerships with industry and government.

In support of Tamil Nadu’s ambition to become a global deep-tech hub, BIM has partnered with the iTamilnadu Technology (iTNT) Foundation, the state’s designated agency under the Department of IT andDigital Services, to promote research, entrepreneurship, and talent developmentin emerging technologies. The institute isalso working with several digital companies based in Tamil Nadu to deliverAI/ML solutions to end users in healthcare, banking, and finance worldwide, generating substantial revenue from consultancy services.

Expressing delight at the recent progress of the institute, Mr. Ravi Appasamy, theChairman, BoG, said, Tamil Nadu has theunique distinction of hosting the highest number of institutes in the NIRF top 100 across various categories in India, thanks to the State Government’s initiative. We will endeavor to set a benchmark of academicexcellence in the country. We need thegovernment’s support to obtain research center status for BIM and permission to expand capacity on our transformational journey. India, with its young population— averaging under 29 years old—is uniquely positioned in today’s global business order. While much of the world is aging, India’s demographic advantage offers us an unmatched opportunity.

As BIM begins a new chapter of growth, a cutting-edge campus is taking shape in Tiruchirappalli — 350,000 sq ft of built-up area spanning nineteen acres of promise, focused on capacity building in the state through new technology applications andsustainability practices. Built entirely withits own funds and supported by industry and its extensive alumni network, the new campus integrates technology, design, and environmental considerations to create an inspiring space for students to think freely, learn deeply, and lead responsibly. With ESG principles at its core, it stands as a benchmark for sustainable institutional infrastructure, featuring:

•  Tree transplantation within the campusto preserve biodiversity

•  Partial reliance on renewable energy

•  Advanced water management systemsand social forestry initiatives

•  VayuJal technology to generate potablewater from atmospheric moisture

•  Sustainable constructionaligned with ISO 14001Environmental Management Standards

To promote research and innovation, BIMhas established its Centre for Research andDevelopment Studies. This ecosystemenabler links academia, industry, and government to drive meaningful research and generate a multiplier effect on valuecreation, leveraging Tamil Nadu’s dynamicindustrial sector.

BIM also proudly serves as the Academic Partner for the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s Two-Year Fellowship Program. This flagship initiative empowered dynamic young professionals to contribute to governance and policymaking in TamilNadu. This partnership demonstrated BIM’sstrong commitment to public administration, policy innovation, and social change.

Beyond the Fellowship, BIM collaboratedwith several key government departments and institutions through impactful partnerships:

Supporting the State PlanningCommission’s Focus Block Development Program to enhance grassroots Key Development Indicators across 12 districts in Tamil Nadu.

•  Partnering with iTNT under theDepartment of IT and Digital Servicesfor capacity building in the deep-tech space

•  Conducting research with the Tamil Nadu Irrigation Management and TrainingInstitute, Department of Irrigation, on watermanagement and efficient irrigation systems

•  Collaborating with the ChennaiMetropolitan Development Authority(CMDA) for sustainable urban economic planning

BIM marked another milestone in its illustrious journey with the Thirty-Third Graduation Day, held on Monday, October27, 2025, at The Music Academy, TTK Road, Chennai.
