Bengaluru, August 2025: Canara Bank celebrated the 79th Independence Day, reflecting on the country’s rich heritage and reaffirming its commitment to nation-building and development with a grandcelebration at its Head Office in Bengaluru.
The celebrations began with a Guard of Honour, thehoisting of the National Flag, singing of the National Anthem, and the release of tricolour balloons by Shri K. Satyanarayana Raju, MD & CEO, in the presence of theExecutive Directors of the bank.
Under its impactful CSR Program named as “Canarabank Dr. Ambedkar Vidya Jyothi Scholarship”, Canara Bank supported meritorious underprivileged SC/ST girl students by providing a total scholarship of ₹1824.68 Lakhs for their education.
The initiative aims to empower the nation’s young minds and provide scholarships to meritorious SC/ST girl students from underprivileged backgrounds to helpthem pursue academic excellence. This year, the Bankwill facilitate scholarship distribution across 26 CircleOffices, 177 Regional Offices, and over 9,861 branches throughout India, ensuring wide outreach.
Apart from the scholarship scheme, the bank alsofacilitated village adoption initiatives and the construction of toilets and sanitation facilities for girl students in rural schools under its CSR Program. The bank has also extended its support to Sree Boomika Social Service Trust, which serves as an old-age home and orphanage, and has supported Divyangjans (persons with disabilities) through the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled by providing assistive devices.
