UK tech sector welcomes Indian entrepreneurs with visa options

Chennai, July 29, 2025:

The UK is inviting tech whiz kids to explore opportunities in the British technology sector, as record numbers of Indian entrepreneurs are taking advantage of the UK’s welcoming immigration landscape, observes A Y & J Solicitors, a top immigration law firm based out of London, UK.

Figures released by trade body London & Partners show that, in just the first two months of the financial year, nine Indian firms established operations in London — following 23 in 2024 and 31 in 2023. The figures suggest a record year for Indian investment in the UK.

Visa and immigration specialist firm, A Y & J Solicitors feels that the UK is encouraging inquiries from IT specialists, start-up entrepreneurs, and skilled tech workers interested in UK visa options, citing the country’s growing reputation as a more welcoming destination for skilled workers than the US.

The director of A Y & J Solicitors, Yash Dubal, explained: “The world of immigration has changed rapidly over the past year, with stricter rules being introduced in many of the most popular destinations for Indian migrants. The US, in particular, has become increasingly hostile to migration. While the UK has revamped its immigration system and reduced net migration, it remains open to investors and skilled workers — especially in technology and IT, where talent shortages persist.

“There are several visa options available for entrepreneurs, skilled workers, and eligible graduates who meet specific criteria.”

Mr Dubal notes that the Global Talent visa allows Indian nationals to work in the UK without a sponsor if they receive an endorsement as a leader or potential leader in digital technology, including fintech, gaming, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

For entrepreneurs, the Innovator Founder visa supports those looking to set up and run an innovative business in the UK.

“The business idea must be different from anything else currently on the UK market, and applicants require an endorsement from a registered endorsing organisation,” he added.

Alternatively, the Skilled Worker visa covers a broad range of IT and digital professions. Although the rules for this visa have recently tightened — including increased salary and skills thresholds — Mr Dubal said this remains a viable route for Indian tech professionals.

“Salaries for skilled workers in the tech sector remain high, so many roles will still meet the new criteria,” he said.

India has now been London’s top source of foreign investment for three consecutive years, with entrepreneurs from tier-two cities such as Coimbatore, Kochi and Chandigarh increasingly choosing to invest in the UK capital.

Mr Dubal concluded: “The traditional business ties between the UK and India are strengthening, particularly in light of the recent FTA and broader global developments. It’s a perfect time for entrepreneurs and individuals to take advantage of the opportunities Britain offers.”
