About the Authors

The Story Chefs The five Chennai-based authors of 15 Tables at TranQuebar

 Bhavna Arya: English Fluency & Creative Thinking module creator and facilitator, is a real-life chef who runs her own exotic kitchen called ‘Intox’ and is also a painter and voice-over artist.

 Jaya Narain Mahbubani: Author of Poetry in Pictures and Of Love And Companionship, teaches at the Goethe InstitutChennai, President of Friends of DakshinaChitra 2018-21, committee member of several of the city’s premier socioculturalorganizations (including the Madras Literary Society), globe trotter.

Parvathi Nayar: Multidisciplinary visual artist, whose work has been presented at venues such as the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Mumbai International Airport and Singapore Art Museum; TEDx speaker. As a writer she wears multiple hats: poet (photo poetry presented at HELD, by Goethe Institute Chennai, featured in Yearbook of Indian Poetry in English 2020-21); arts writer for publications such as National Geographic, The Hindu, The Jakarta Post and The Business Times, Singapore; fiction writer (shortlisted in 2021 for The Bombay Review’s Creative Writing Awards Fiction, picked for Kitaab’s The Best Asian Short Stories 2021 anthology) currently working on a novel of conceptually-linked stories.

Ranjana Bagry: After being a full-time mom and a part-time educational entrepreneur, who ran a Spoken English institute, Ranjana discovered her vocation for interior designing and rediscovered her passion for writing. She has authored articles, poems and short stories in both English and Hindi.

Vinita Nayar: Freelance writer and editor who has written for a host of premier newspapers and magazines and edited over a hundred books. Has authored a light romance novel, To Kiss a Sunbeam, distributed by Pageturn Publishers. She loves yoga, music and singing (she has an album under her belt: For the Good Times) and is a dog lover and trustee of Tail Alert, a trust that rehomes abandoned dogs.
