Chennai, March 10, 2024: Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, Department of Pediatric Nephrology organized a Walkathon to celebrate the 19th edition of World Kidney Day on March 10, 2024. The event, themed “Kidney Health for All – Advancing equitable access to care and optimal medication practice,” aimed to raise awareness about kidney health and witnessed active participation from over 200 children, parents, and volunteers.
South Indian Actor and Producer Mathew Varghese, Cinematographer & actor Ilavarasu, and artist Aravinth Sundar flagged off the Walk-A-Thon at Elliot’s Beach, Besant Nagar, Chennai.
The Department of Pediatric Nephrology at Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, in collaboration with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF-WKA), Tanker (Tamil Nadu Kidney Research) Foundation, and ChildrenKidneyCare.com, presented this Walkathon.
Dr. Mehta’s Young Kidney Walkathon is an annual event spearheaded by Dr. Kalaivani Ganesan, Sr Consultant – Pediatric Nephrologist, under the guidance of Dr. B. R. Nammalwar, Director-Pediatric Nephrology, Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, Chennai.
Dr. Kalaivani, the walkathon organizer, expresses her heartfelt gratitude to all participants, supporters, and collaborators for making the Walkathon a success. She stated, we firmly believe that spreading awareness of kidney health is important, especially among our young kids as they represent the future.
This annual initiative from the Dept. of Pediatric Nephrology from Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together, raise awareness about kidney health, and take proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
