Advertising Club Madras in its ongoing effort to reach out tothe student community and engage with them on asustained and structured manner has initiated opening upof student chapters in leading colleges. As part of theinitiative, Ad Club Madras today signed a memorandum ofunderstanding (MOU) with the B.Sc. Visual communicationprogramme of M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women forsetting up the inaugural student chapter in the city.
The Undergraduate Program in Visual Communication atM.O.P. Vaishnav was established in 1999 and is in its 25thyear now. The Viscom department has had a longassociation with the Ad Club in bringing in the best ofresources from the industry for the benefit of students. ThisMOU marks a consolidation of long-time industry academiainterface.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. S. Balasubramanian, President, Advertising Club of Madras, said, “It gives usgreat joy to make a beginning of the student chapter atM.O.P. Vaishnav College. Given the fact that M.O.P. has always been a provider of talent to the advertising industry,it’s only fair that we make a beginning here. This studentchapter will play a constructive role in connecting students with the industry and also give them an opportunity toimbibe leadership skills and other management skills in the campus and provide them with invaluable experience when they step out to start their careers. This initiative will motivate young talents to choose advertising as theircareer. I take this opportunity to thank the Management of the College, Principal and other staff members for playing a pivotal role in making this happen.”
On the development, Mr. Surej Salim, Secretary,Advertising Club of Madras said “As the Inaugural chapter, we are elated to kick start the Student Chapter at M.O.P Vaishnav College. Apart from creating an Advertising Club experience within college and bringing out hidden talentthrough various activities, we see this association alsohelping bridge student’s aspirations and career choiceswith industry experts. With M.O.P Vaishnav College &Advertising Club Madras taking equal effort to forge this MOU, I see a fruitful relationship embarking which wouldhelp the advertising community in the years to come.
Dr Archna Prasad, Principal, M.O.P. Vaishnav College,remarked, “M.O.P. Vaishnav has always been at the forefront of adopting new initiatives that help students develop newer skills and provide them a wholesomelearning experience that makes them life-ready. ThisStudent Chapter of the Advertising Club Madras is one such initiative and we are really happy that Ad Club Madrashas chosen us as the college for the Inaugural chapter.”
This partnership will pave the way for internships,workshops, industry visits, and guest lectures by renowned professionals, enabling students to gain valuable insights and practical knowledge.
The Student Chapter will work closely with the parentAdvertising Club in planning and executing activities and events to forge a strong industry connect for students. The chapter will have a Student President and a Secretary, whowill be nominated by the College.
