ACM-W Chennai Chapter will host the ACM-W India Celebration of Women in Computing (AICWiC) 2017 between September 11 and 13, 2017 at the Kattankulathur campus of SRM University. This is ACM Chapter’s most exciting event of the year which promises to a rich and unique experience for all young and aspiring women intellectuals.
AICWiC’17 seeks to bring forth an exceptional opportunity for learning by connecting with domain specialists and peers as well as showcasing individual work before an gathering of women scholars and industry experts through our Work In Progress and Poster Presentation. The online programming competition aims to provide a platform for young women to flaunt their coding skills. Moreover, the enthralling technical tutorials on Deep Learning and Web Development App, ACM Chapter Summit, panel discussion, and informative guest talks by Dr.Jodi L Tims, Dr.Tracy Camp, Dr. Gargi.B.Dasgupta and Dr.Arati Dixit will enlighten the role of women empowerment in field of computing technology and development.
The ACM India Education Committee and the India focused Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (iSIGCSE) have been actively working on the adaptation of ACM-IEEE CS 2013 curricula model to suit the context of educational institutions in India. In this regard, a Faculty Summit will be organized on 13th September, 2017 along with the ACM India Celebrations toward the computing curriculum development and issues related to pedagogy and assessment.
ACM-W Chennai Chapter also aims to highlight the fact that women are as competent as men in the field of computing technology. To achieve this, AICWIC 2017 will endeavor to provide collective learning through the various activities and events while giving a platform to boost up their confidence.
