Dr Alka Mittal, Director (HR), ONGC gave away awards to outstanding Woman Managers during Women Managers Convention 2019,hosted by Madras Management Association (MMA) in Chennai. Dr Alka Mittal was the chief guest for the valedictory function.
Delivering the valedictory address Dr Alka Mittal said, gender equality is the prominent issue in a patriarchal society like ours. India is a fastest growing financial power but when it comes to gender parity , we need an accelerated pace to increase substantially the number of women joining the working force. Dr Mittal , emphasised that, the objective should not be to raise the number of women doing job but to have them with us in the long run.
Taking a cue from ONGC scenario, she said, progressive measures have been implemented for a woman friendly industry and in last four years , 511 women joined ONGC and out of these 80% work in technical fields. 140 women work in fields, among them 9 wok in the most critical offshores platforms. Dr Mittal informed the gathering that ONGC women employees get full pay leaves for 180 days during maternity , 60 days for adoption care and 730 days for child care .
Dr Mittal was felicitated by MMA . Welcome address was given by Mr Suresh Raman, Secretary, MMA and Ms Nalini Padmanabhan, Convention Chairperson proposed the vote of thanks.
