M.Lathika won Gold Medal in SGFI – 65th School Federation Games of India at New Delhi

“Excellence is a continuous process and not an accident” is a famous quote by our former President Dr. Abdul Kalam. True to his quote M. Lathika of Std IX A from M.CT.M Chidambaram Chettyar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mylapore has brought pride and laurels to herself and the school with her extraordinary achievements in our traditional sport Silambam. She has secured Gold medal in the Inter-school Games Federation of India,65th National school games –New Delhi held at the National level 2020.She has been learning Silambam from the age of nine. She has been trained by Mr.Pandian.
Her achievements include:
• District level Gold in Gymnastics .
• Skating under 6 category -2 Gold medals
• Silambam National level (Private) – 2 Gold medals
• 2013- won 2 Gold medals in All India Silambam Federation, 14thAll India National Silambam Championship, Chennai
• 2017-won Bronze medal in under 14 category (Republic Day Games ) Divisional competition, Chennai
• 2019- won Bronze medal in under 14 category (Republic Day Games) Divisional competition ,Chennai
She has also performed Silambam in 2018 -19 at Chennai International Youth Fest. She has also performed a Silambam demonstration at Nehru Stadium for the Valedictory ceremony of the Paralympics(Football)
She has been able to achieve this and more balancing her academics and sports.
