Kotak Mahindra Bank partners Blind Welfare Organisation for ‘Kotak National Blind Cricket Tournament 2018’

MumbaiJanuary 2018: Kotak Mahindra Bank(Kotak) and Blind Welfare Organisation (BWO) kicked off the ‘Kotak National Blind Cricket Tournament2018’ today. The tournament starts today in Mumbai and will be played over three days (January 16 to 18, 2018). It will witness participation from talented visually impaired cricketers from India’s kona kona.

In its 8th year, the 2018 edition of the Kotak NationalBlind Cricket Tournament is one of the most sought after cricket competitions in the country for visually impaired players. Players from eight State teamsincluding Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, will participate in the tournament.

Virat Diwanji, Sr. EVP & Head – Branch Banking and Acquisition, Kotak Mahindra Bank inaugurated the tournament.

Diwanji said, “Blind Welfare Organisation is doing tremendous work in the area of supporting the visually impaired. We are delighted to partner them for ‘Kotak National Blind Cricket Tournament 2018’. Cricket is a religion in India, which brings to the fore human passion, endurance and teamwork, and the Blind Welfare Organisation has done an outstanding job of using cricket to promote sports among the visually impaired.”

“Having played the Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19), the C K Nayudu Trophy (Under-21) and the Rohinton Baria Trophy (Inter-University), I know how physically and mentally demanding the sport is, and I am amazed and excited to see the determination and resolve shown by these talented sportsmen. We salute each player for being an inspiration,” added Diwanji.
