Kerala : With a mission to encourage film journalism, Indywood Film Carnival, a flagship event organised by 10 billion US dollar Project Indywood, has instituted special awards for carnival related reporting.
Indywood Film Carnival, one of the largest film based events in the world, will be held at Hyderabad-based Ramoji Film City, the largest film studio in the world, from December 1 to 4.
The categories are National (Print-Visual), regional (Print-Visual), Radio, Magazine, Online, News agency, Photographer and Cameraman. The award comprises a cash prize of rupees one lakh, a 3D tab manufactured by UAE-based Aries Epica, and a trophy besides certificate.

The selection of the awardees will be carried out by a jury comprising of eminent personalities from film and media industries. The awards will be distributed at the concluding day of the carnival. Key objective – Growth of film industry
The main objective of Project Indywood is to elevate Indian Film Industry to the global standards. Indywood is being supported by a consortium promoted by 2000 Indian billionaires and corporates.
Indywood Founder Director Sohan Roy emphasized that innovative making style and distribution methods should be embraced to attract global audience. “Use advanced cameras, studios, projectors, sound equipment, multiplexes, globally appealing stories, wide distribution network etc. Technological upgradation according to times is the need of the hour and it will help to save lot of time and money,” he said.
Encouragement for journalists
Indywood has also constituted Indywood Media Excellence Awards to honour prominent journalists in the country. Indywood has already honoured journalists from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Goa, Chennai, Kerala and Hyderabad.
Indywood Film Carnival Media Awards is a new initiative meant to promote film journalism. Indywood will also honour individuals and organizations for their valuable contributions in the field of Education, Music, Health, IT, Hospitality, Maritime, Build in India, Interiors and Architecture during Indywood Film Carnival. National Indywood Media Excellence Awards will also be distributed on the occasion.
Indywood Film Carnival is expected to draw 300 exhibitors, 5000 trade delegates, 500 plus potential investors, 2500 plus Indywood Talent Hunt finalists and over 300 international deal makers.
