Chennai, September 5, 2018: After a successful roadshow in Delhi, the second roadshow for IFAT India 2018 was held in Chennai at The Crowne Plaza, Adyar Park on 5th September, 2018.
IFAT India is the leading trade fair for water, sewage, solid waste and recycling which provides an opportunity to industry experts, policymakers and business leaders to discuss regional strategies on numerous environmental challenges and seek solutions through formal interactions. IFAT India is one-of-its-kind trade fair that provides an international platform for key industry players to showcase their latest technological innovations which can prove to provide solutions to various environmental issues in India.
Chennai, as a city has faced environmental issues ranging from excessive air pollution, water pollutionand scarcity of water supply. Water demand in Chennai metropolitan area is more than 1,044 MLD and piped water supply is absent in most parts of the city. While officially, Chennai Metro Water claims to be supplying 710MLD of water to the city, the supply has been cut short to 550 to 600MLD of water. A planning commission report has stated that Chennai could face a significant gap in availability by 2026, even after considering ground water, wastewater re-use and desalination. IFAT India 2018 will provide a deliberative platformto createpotential solutions to these problems through latest technologies available globally, panel discussions and other supporting programs.
The key participants of the roadshow were Mr. Ashok Natarajan, CEO Tamil Nadu Water Investment Company Limited, Mr. Chandrakant Kamble(tbc), CMD, Tamil Nadu Power Finance, Mr. G. Balasubramanian, Jt.General Manager, Larsen&Toubro, Mr. Bhola Mandal, Business Director, Messe Muenchen India and Ms. Sheetal Subramaniam, Regional Head – South Messe Muenchen India among various industry players.
Industry presentations were made by Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Thermax India, Mr. Deeleswara V. Babu, Sales Director, Suez Water Technologies and Solutions, Mr. Rajesh Babu, Sr. Manager, LANXESS India and Mr. M. Sukumar, Product Manager, Dover India on key issues pertaining to IFAT India and environmental technologies.
