Round Table India and Ladies Circle India present “Happy Talkies” a first of its kind event where nearly 5000 orphans and special children from homes forunderprivileged children from across Chennai will be taken out for movie day to Satyam Cinemas on November 18 and 19, 2017. The event is an initiative of Madras Coastal Round Table 162 and Madras Coastal Ladies Circle 135.
The two day movie event will have 2500 children simultaneously watching a movieper day in all 6 screens of Satyam cinemas, Royapettah for the first time. For the first time all six screens will simultaneously screen a single movie for underprivileged children. The children will be watching the Tamil dubbed version of the popular children’s animation movie, Kung Fu Panda 3. Speaking about the event Madras Coastal Round Table 162 (MCRT162) Chairman, Tabler Dinesh Kumar says, “An
event on this scale has not been attempted before and for us the most important thing is to ensure that the children have a wonderful experience.”
The children attending are from orphanages, homes for special children and underprivileged children from across Chennai and its surrounding areas. The children will be picked up and dropped back by us. The children will receive special T-shirts, a snack while they enjoy the movie and a nutritious packed lunch that will be provided by Chennai Food Bank. “Many of these children have not even watched a movie in a theatre, so a normal experience for many of us, is a special day of happiness for these children and we are happy that we are able to provide this experience to them,” says Chairperson Circler Bharani Balachandran of Madras Coastal Ladies Circle 135.
Round Table and Ladies Circle India are organisations who through their initiative ‘Freedom Through Education’ they are leading the goal of education of 1 million children across India by setting up sound infrastructure for the same. Over the past 10 years Round Table India and Ladies Circle India have built one classroom a day through their education support initiatives.
Till date we at MCRT 162 have built more than 36 classrooms at a cost of several crores. The classrooms’ details are:

5 classrooms at Padur Govt. School,
4 class rooms at Natham Village, Kumbakkonam for Fire Victims
2 classrooms ThanthaiPeriyar Govt. School, Puzhuthivakkam,
8 schools affected by Tsunami were rebuilt
3 classrooms at Government School, Porur
6 Classrooms at SGRVV School, Ponneri
4 classrooms at St. Thomas Matriculation School, Thandalam, which was
inaugurated in March of 2017.
