Trivandrum-based Aries Plex, promoted by UAE-based Aries Group, has received yet another honour in the name of Bahubali. This time Aries Plex received special appreciation from the team behind Bahubali, directed by SS Rajamouli, for its huge revenue generation through advanced infrastructure facilities.
The Bahubali team declared Aries Plex as the best screen in the country to watch the movie in 4K format which has set new benchmarks in film making. The award of appreciation was handed over to B. Unnikrishnan, Managing Director of Aries Plex at a function held at Trivandrum on Monday.
Aries Plex could generate more than Rs 3 crores when original version of the movie was released on 10th July 2015. Aries Plex became the first cinemas in the country which generated whooping revenue in a short span of time. Bahubali is the first film to make such a record collection from single cinemas. Bahubali one of the most expensive films in Indian film history made at a cost of Rs. 250 crore had broken existing box-office collection records.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has already raked in Rs 121 crore in India on its first day, breaking all box-office collection records in the country. As per the reports the movie has amassed Rs 200 crore plus gross at the worldwide box office.
Aries Plex, one of the largest cinemas in Kerala, with a seating capacity of more than 1515 seats (700 for Audi 1 dual 4K Atmos) is running Bahubali-2 successfully. The re-release of magnum-opus movie also got a rousing reception at Aries Plex. The re-release of the first part was conducted in connection with the release of second part titled Bahubali: The Conclusion. Ariex Plex equipped with top-notch infrastructure facilities is the only cinemas in the country with dual 4K projection at multiplex. Recliners and seats were imported from Belgium.
“Watching visual splendours and technical wizardry in ultra modern ambiance is a unique experience and it is worth cherishing. Bahubali is one of such movies that must be watched only in 4K facility. It is a positive sign that the stakeholders in the film industry are gradually embracing advanced technology. We are elated as our efforts to uplift film industry (from production to screening) are reaping benefits,” said Sohan Roy, Chairman of Aries Plex.
He added that movie-goers never get a chance to experience 4K movies in its original quality due to the substandard condition of studios and theatres. “As a solution to this, we floated Indywood consortium comprising 2,000 billionaires and corporate to invest Rs 70,000 crore in Indian film industry. The project aims at initiating 10,000 new 4K projection multiplex screens, 1,00,000 Atmos 4K/2K projection home cinemas, film studios, animation/ VFX studios and film schools conforming to international standards. We are planning to expand our operations across the country by the end of 2018,” said Sohan Roy, Founder Director of Indywood.
Sohan Roy who pioneered the concept of building dual 4K multiplexes and Atmos home cinemas in less space was ranked 40 in the Most Powerful Indian leaders in the Middle East, listed by the Forbes Magazine.
