“App Inventor Training Programme for School Children” on 07.09.2017

B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent University is planning to organize one day App Inventor training programme for School Children on 7th September 2017.

In support of nurturing the spirit of scientific inquiry and creativity, Google India has been running the “Code to Learn” competition in India. This year’s competition is focused on creating Applications and Games by the high school students.  In spirit of encouraging students from all sections of the society, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent University is planning to organize a one day training programme to prepare students for this competition as a part of its community social responsibility initiative.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri  Prof. Dr. Shahol Hamid Bin Abu Bakar opined that “This is an unique initiative that we have come up with to help unlock the school students’ creativity and innovation.

All school students need to be trained for the competition. But, not many schools have the infrastructure or training resources to equip the students for such competitions”.

Dr. V. Murugesan, Registrar of the University informed that “Crescent University will always be ready to share its valuable Staff and infrastructural resources for the benefit of the student community. Towards this training of school children, our unique Apple iOS Application Development Centre will be sharing its resources and we are planning to conduct a series of training programmes in future”.

Dr. P. Sheik Abdul Khader, the Dean of the School of Computing Information and Mathematical Sciences has said that “Through our training, students will learn to create a wide variety of projects that include Games, Animations, Story-telling and even Android apps all of that without writing even one line of programming language code. The students will learn about how technology works and how to create the apps of the future, rather than be just consumers.  Our Faculty members will help the students by training them and also mentoring them for this competition. We are also planning several such initiatives for the School teachers and also our own faculty in the future.”

The One day training programme is to be held on 7 September 2017 is open to all the high school and higher secondary school students at free of cost. Interested schools can contact the coordinators Dr. R. Shriram, Professor – CSE  and Mr. Rajendran, Coordinator – Apple iOS Application Development Centre at 94450 06756 &99622 65750 for registration and other details.
