Diesel price, toll charges and third party premium had affected them badly and made life miserable and to in protest against these issues the truckers affiliated to All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners Association will start an indefinite strike from June 18.
At a press meet held on June 8 in Chennai, Mr. Rajinder Singh the general secretary of All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners Association speaking to reporters said for the past two years daily price rise has affected truck operators. We don’t want the general public to suffer and at the same time we want the government to understand the problem of truckers, so trucks carrying essential commodities will not participate in the strike”.

Rajinder Singh added, “The diesel price was increased by Rs. 3.33 between May 14 and May 31 and this has added an expenditure of nearly Rs. 100 crore for truckers across the country,” he said.
6 lakh trucks will not run in Tamil Nadu to participate in the trucks, he said. Increase in toll charges without any new additions to the existing features, increase in premium amount for third party insurance have further added to the problems of the truckers and made the livelihood of truckers difficult, Mr. Singh further said.
