Chennai, March 2020: The 4th graduation day of batch 2014 – 2019 of MIDAS (Marg Institute of Design and Architecture Swarnabhoomi) was held recently at the Vivekananda Convention Centre, MARG Swarnabhoomi, ECR
Dr. M.K. Surappa – Vice Chancellor, Anna University was the chief guest and delivered the graduation day address. Other dignitaries who shared the stage was Ar. K. Senthil Kumar, Chairman of the Indian Institute of Architects – Tamilnadu Chapter, who was the guest of honor of the day, Mr. GRK Reddy, promoter, Swarnabhoomi Academic Institutions & CMD of Marg Group, Mrs. V.P.Reddy, Director of Swarnabhoomi Academic Institutions, Prof G. Selvakumar, Dean – MIDAS, Prof Shashank Chakradeo, Principal of MIDAS and Prof Justin the HOD
Mr. GRK Reddy delivered the welcome speech & spoke on how the industry is growing rapidly during the last decade, Reddy also spoke about Dr. Surappa’s researches, awards and the various titles he is serving. He also spoke about Ar. K. Senthil Kumar and the position he holds. Reddy also spoke on the history of Midas and the its various achievements including hosting NASA (National Association of students of Architecture) with 6500 students, world’s largest painting done on 50000 sq ft with 1200 architects, inter collegiate events & visits of renowned architect.
Later Principal, reported on activities & accomplishment of college including the Meditation program, NSS Special Camps, Industrial Visit to Nippon Paints and various other activities to develop the practical knowledge for the Architects, which is the need of the hour for budding artists. He also declared that MIDAS is aiming at starting M. Arch during 2020-2021

Followed by the principal, Dr. Surappa welcomed the dignitaries, students & parents. He congratulated the University rank holders & their parents. He also applauded on the mentorship of the faculties in grooming the future architects.

He spoke on the challenges lying before the emerging architects & about how to mark themselves in the society, the need to think about ecosystem, environment & also be innovative. To dream beyond reality & make those happen for the betterment of the society. He also mentioned that Architects should always be open to continuous learning & keep themselves updated with the advancements in the industry and the allied industries. They should be updated on technologies like robotics, 3d printing, 3d software, artificial intelligence. new materials, new technology and integrate it with the classroom learning which paves way for a better society and smart cities.

He also emphasized that Architects should think on what they can give back to the society which helped them to become architects.

Later Ar. K. Senthil Kumar, Chairman of Indian Institute of Architects, TN Chapter said that architects should stick on to their ethics, which is the necessity of today & should have work experience in firms for a couple of years before they become entrepreneurs to gain knowledge of rules & regulation of government to avoid legal consequences in future when they become entrepreneurs. He also said that during designing a project, the structural stability should be the on the top of the mind of an architect.
Students Singaravelan, Naveen Kumar R.M and Ishwarya Suresh were university rank holders. 85 students received their Bachelor In Architecture degree certificates. The convocation concluded with the pledge taken by all the students.
