Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre joins the World Health Organization (WHO) in observing World Heath Day 2017. This year the WHO is calling for the global community to come together and “Talk Depression”.
Depression leads to poor lifestyle decisions, such as unhealthy eating, less exercise, smoking and weight gain — all of which are risk factors for diabetes. Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre embraces this opportunity to bring focus on Depression this year on World Health Day. Various regions will coordinate activities throughout the weekend including a Diabetes Walk and a Seminar on Depression in Chennai. The walk will commence April 7th, from 06:00 AM onwards with an average participation of 200 people, coming together to spread awareness. Starting from Dr. Mohan’s Gopalapuram center, the walk will go around the area and come back to Conran Smith road to end the walk, after which a seminar will be held to promote actions to address Depression and raise awareness on the issue.
There is a strong association between various chronic medical condition and increased risk for depression. Patients with diabetes are at higher risk for depression, Diabetes can cause complications and health problems that may worsen symptoms of depression. Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre encourages citizens to stay informed and maintain a positive lifestyle to prevent Depression and other types of depressive disorders.
