Chennai. February 2018: Chennaites’ incomparable love for Rice has made the chefs at McDonald’s curate two wonderfully crafted rice recipes. Yes, you heard it right! McDonald’s, in addition to its wide variety of burgers, wraps, nuggets and fries is now serving rice meals in Chennai across all 16 restaurants.
McDonald’s, over the years, has pioneered and developed several ‘glocal’ products, which are uniquely Indian in taste and international in format. The newly introduced Rice Fiesta is a perfect response to everyone’s rice cravings. The launch resonates with the brand’s focus on being locally relevant, it introduced the kebab burger in the Hyderabad market, Potato Wedges and Chicken Strips specifically for Bengaluru, and chicken Wings were launched especially for South India.
The Rice Fiesta is available in two delicious variants:
The first variant is the Veggies and Cheese Rice, which has toppings of assorted veggies such as peas, carrot, American corn and zucchini tossed in cheese cream, layered with herbs; all packed in steamy hot rice making it a combination to die for!
The second variant is the Beans and Gravy Rice which has a blend of peas, carrot, chick peas and kidney beans mixed with piping hot tomato gravy with basil, garlic and pepper; straight from Amma’s kitchen.
Both these products are also available in non-veg variants, with spicy chicken chunks making them a scrumptious meal. The meal boxes are specially designed in a manner that makes them convenient to eat in restaurants as well as on the go for office goers and college students. The Rice Fiesta is affordably priced at Rs.119 (veg) and Rs.139 (non-veg).
Mrs. Seema Arora Nambiar, Senior Vice President – Strategy, Innovation & Capability, HRPL (McDonald’s India – West & South) said at the launch, “Research highlighted the need for a filling meal option for our consumers in Chennai and rice was our obvious choice. We specially created Rice meals that perfectly blend with the local taste and have a twist of international flavours. With our fusion rice offerings, we reaffirm our commitment to bring in innovations based on the needs of our consumers and provide them the taste and variety that they look for from McDonald’s.”
McDonald’s has always engaged its consumers through intriguing campaigns, and for this launch, McDonald’s introduced an energetic campaign called ‘Super Passi’. The TVC campaign has a catchy jingle with a play on – Badi Bhook!
The Rice Fiesta is currently available in all 16 McDonald’s restaurants across Chennai.
