Chennai, November 2017: Walmart India, the wholly owned subsidiary of Walmart Stores Inc., has been recognized among ‘The 2017 Working Mother & AVTAR 100 Best Companies for Women in India’. The final list of top 100 companies was compiled from the `The Working Mother and AVTAR Best Companies for Women in India Study 2017’. The 2017 BCWI list was announced at the `Best Practices of Best 100 Conference’ in Chennai, today.
The study was conducted by AVTAR and Working Mother Media to identify companies with the most favorable policies and practices to promote employment, retention and increasing participation of women in the workforce. AVTAR and Working Mother received hundreds of submissions from various companies, spanning every major industry, geographical location and line of business. The evaluation process was based on practices and policies followed by companies for increasing women’s workforce participation, which the panel then weighed to select, score and rank the winners. The parameters for screening included Workforce Profile, Policies for Women’s Recruitment, Retention and Advancement, Policies for Safety and Security, Policies for Flexible Working, Policies for Paid Leave, Benefits and Other Career Enablers and Company Culture and Work Life Programs.

‘The Working Mother and AVTAR Best Companies for Women in India’ study was first launched in 2016. The exercise was started to honor companies that help women have sustainable careers. This study was launched in the United States in 1986 by Working Mother Media. It is claimed to be one of the most prestigious lists that has set standard for work/life practices for companies in the US.
