VA TECH WABAG, a pure play water technology Indian Multinational offering total water solution to industries and municipalities is part of major CSR initiatives on rejuvenation of water bodies. As a thought leader in the water industry, Wabag joins hands with River Rally awareness campaign initiated by Isha Foundation. Recently, WABAG had also completed restoration of Narayanapuram wetland in co-operation with civil society and Government of Tamil Nadu. Further, as part of water Campaign 2017 on a Mission mode launched by NABARD, Wabag has rejuvenated two pond projects at Adhivarahanallur village and Thethampattu village in Cuddalore District in Tamil Nadu.
In addition, as part of the large public event organized at Chennai Nandanam YMCA Grounds, WABAG also laid emphasis on the importance of recycling of water resources and awareness among the masses on water sustainability initiatives such as reuse, promotion of green technologies besides water augmentation and water conservation by various methods such as open well rejuvenation and ponds rejuvenation through stall activity.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Rajiv Mittal, MD and Group CEO expressed “WABAG supports Rally for Rivers Initiated by Sadhguru who has been championing the cause of water and creating awareness on fast depleting of water resources”. He also said that in Chennai, we should focus on rejuvenation of water bodies and suggested four pronged initiatives to achieve water sustainability such as Creating awareness on water; Rain Water Harvesting as Tamil Nadu has been pioneering and championing this to increase ground water level; Water reuse which Tamil Nadu Government has been pioneering way back in 1988 meant for non-potable and industrial use and finally; Use of sea water desalination as Chennai has the second longest coastline globally and this could be fully exploited to produce potable water from perennial sea water source and Chennai has done very well in this regard.
“By implementing these four strategies, we can convert the water scarcity into water security for the State of Tamil Nadu which would result in economic growth of this State”, Mr. Mittal added.
