VELAMMAL’S PRAGGNANANDHAA BECOMES WORLD’S SECOND YOUNGEST GRANDMASTER IN CHESS

Master Praggnanandhaa R, Std VIII of Velammal Mogappair campus participated in 4th Gredine Open Chess Tournament in Ortisei, Italy between 16th June and 24th June 2018. He won his 8th round game against GM Moroni Luca Jr. and scored  his 3rd GM norm with one round  to spare. With this achievement, he becomes the 2nd World Youngest GrandMaster in Chess. He achieved this title at the age of 12 years, 10 months and 13 days. He scored 7.5 out of 9 points  in this tournament. He has a current rating of 2529. The Management appreciated his remarkable achievement.
