Chennai, May 2, 2017: Uber, the ridesharing app that has transformed the way people move around in cities, has today expanded its coverage area in Chennai to include Sriperumbudur, Oragadam and Chengalpettu.
Uber launched in Chennai in 2014 and has since expanded its service to connect major parts of the city. Owing to the positive response it received from its riders, Uber will also serve suburban areas and smaller town panchayats with this expansion. So, be it an everyday ride to work or a quick commute from the local EMU station to home, Uber is committed to providing a safe, affordable and reliable ride at the push of a button.
Speaking about the expansion, Christian Freese, General Manager – Uber South said “The response we’ve received from millions of riders over the last three years is testament to Uber’s success in Chennai. We are excited to expand our coverage area and provide the convenience of ridesharing to more people across the city. This also gives us an opportunity to mobilise the micro-entrepreneurship community in these areas by creating more economic opportunities for driver partners.”
In keeping with the commitment to celebrate cities, Uber will now serve riders from Thiruvottiyur to Kovalam, in addition to SriPerumubudur and Chengalpattu.
